ROMANIA
This page provides a guide to the digitized National Security Country Files on Romania housed in Texas Scholar Works. The originals are located in the LBJ Presidential Library in Austin, Texas.
The documents in the Romania National Security Country Files are focused on the changing landscape of US-Romania relations in the shadow of regional and global events such as the Vietnam War, the Czechoslovak Crisis (Prague Spring), and the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia. Documents also provide analysis of the Romanian communist leadership's independent stance in relation to the USSR, including its refusal to participate in the invasion of Czechoslovakia and its pursuit of an independent domestic and foreign policy. Finally, a considerable portion of the collection is on bilateral US-Romanian relations and trade.
